SOP - PEST AND RODENT CONTROL

PURPOSE:
To provide a written procedure for Pest and Rodent control.

This procedure is applicable to Control of Pest and Rodents in the plant.

PROCEDURE:
6.1
HOUSE PEST MANAGEMENT: Frequency: Fortnightly
6.1.1
This treatment is for the management of cockroaches and other pests such as silver fish, red and black ants.
6.1.2
This treatment mainly comprise of a through insecticidal spray in all the nooks and corners of the entire premises and other vulnerable places harbouring cockroaches and other insects.
6.1.3
The treatment is based on the use of gel bait i.e Goliath Gel and water based Deltamethrin , Cyfluthrin done by authorized PCA person only.

6.2
RODENT CONTROL:
6.2.1
This treatment is for the management of rodents i.e rats, mice, bandicoots in the Plant ground floor, First floor and in Quality control department.
Roda boxes are kept around the periphery of the main building and utility block with bromodioline 0.005% as bait .
6.2.2
Roda boxes should not be used inside the building . Rodent bait is used only on the exteriors of buildings and that in PCA’s tamper proof bait stations units.
6.2.3
House keeping supervisor daily checks for the presence of rodents in the Roda boxes and fill the observations in Format Prescribed for the same
6.2.4
For indoor control of rats and mice, Gum Glue board traps are used.
6.2.5
No food or poison baits are used and the catch can be disposed off without the dead mouse or rat causing odour / contamination problems from in accessible production areas.
6.2.6
The placement of the glue boards will be along the walls in all areas close to doors and other openings into an area.
6.2.7
House keeping supervisor daily checks for the presence of rodent in the glue board and the observations are recorded in format Prescribed for the same.
6.3
INTELLIGENT FLY MANAGEMENT:
6.3.1
This treatment is for the management of flies i.e house flies, flesh flies and gnat house flies.
6.3.2
Space sprays i.e beta -Cyfluthrin as water base will be applied outdoors with a help of 5 lits capacity hand compression sprayer.

6.3.3
Enter the log after the Intelligent fly management treatment in Format Prescribed for the same
6.3.4
Insect light traps are installed inside the premises depending upon the requirement.
6.3.5
House Keeping Supervisor daily Checks for the presence of dead flies in the insect light trap and the observations are recorded in Format Prescribed for the same.
6.4
BARRIER TREATMENT: Frequency: Fortnightly
6.4.1
This treatment is intended for crawling pests such as ants (red & black), millipedes, centipedes which come crawling from outside the premises.
6.4.2
Prophylactic treatment is recommended and only for external periphery of all premises at each location.
6.4.3
The through runoff spray of 10% cyfluthrin will cover a band of 2 meters i.e one meter wide floor and one meter high wall sides done by authorized PCI persons only.
6.4.4
Enter the log after the Barrier treatment in Format Prescribed for the same.
Notes:
Allow only the authorized person to carry out pest control activity recommended by Pest Control Agency
While involving in spraying activity wear nose mask and surgical hand gloves to avoid contamination and inhalation.
