PROCEDURE FOR CONTROLLING RODENTS

If evidence of infestation by rodents or insects within the premises is found, take steps to identify the reason for and the place of origin of the infestation.

If evidence of infestation is found in an area used for manufacture or packaging of products , discontinue all operations in that area until the infestation has been eradicated.

6.0 RODENTS

The local Public Health Authority is immediately informed . Take remedial action as advised by the local Public Health Authority

7.0 INSECTS

Identify the source of the infestation . Take appropriate remedial action . This may be treatment of the source with an insecticide approved by the local public Health Authority , except in storage, manufacturing and packaging areas where insecticides may not be used, or appropriate screening measures to prevent the entry of insects

8.0 RECORDS

Maintain a record book to show :-

The dates of inspection – internal and external.

The findings, whether positive or negative.

The date and nature of any sighting s of rodents or insects.

Take the actions in the event of positive findings or sightings.
