SOP - HANDLING OF LINEN

PURPOSE :
To provide a procedure for handling of linen.

Applicable to handling of uniforms used by persons entering Production area and Quality Control.

PROCEDURE:

CLEANING AIDS:
6.1.1
Industrial Washing Machine: It is used for washing the linen.
6.1.2
Buckets: For transferring water, wet and moist clothes.
6.1.3
Washing liquid soap: - (Detergent for cleaning linen).
6.2
CLEANING:

COLLECTION :
6.2.1.1
Collect the used uniform from the primary change rooms, used uniforms from the secondary change room in a closed laundry bin.
Take the collected linen in a closed laundry bin to the washing area .
6.2.2
WASHING:
6.2.2.1
Ensure the machines are in switch “OFF” condition.
6.2.2.2
Open the lid of the washing machine.
6.2.2.3
Pour the washing liquid.
Quantity: (3ml of liquid soap per kg of linen.)

Load the used linen into the Industrial Washing Machine.
6.2.2.5
Check the lid is closed properly.
6.2.2.6
Switch “ON” the machine to start the washing activity.
6.2.2.7
After the washing activity is over the machine stops automatically with indicator.

Switch “OFF” the machine.
6.2.2.9
Collect the washed linen in a clean bucket.

Dry the washed linen.

Collect the dried linen in the laundry bin and take it for ironing.

Arrange the ironed uniform and take it to linen room.

Arrange the ironed linen in the linen room lockers.

ISSUING OF LINEN:
6.2.3.1
Issue the washed linen before the start of the shift to every employee.
