Issue of Personal Protective Equipments

4.0 APPLICABILITY
This procedure is applicable to Xxx (India) Pvt. Ltd., Xxx plant only.

5.0 PURPOSE
To describe the procedure for the issue of Personal Protective Equipments for Xxx Xxx Plant Team .

6.0 SCOPE
To state the conditions for the issue of Personal Protective Equipments necessary to avoid occupational hazards and increase safety of employees and customers during various jobs at manufacturing site.

9.0 PROCEDURE

9.1 Identification of the potential risks in the related job and selection of the Required Personal Protective Equipment:

9.1.1 Complete understanding of the allotted job by the employee is necessary.

9.1.2 Understanding of the allotted job and the potential risk analysis should be done to find out the hazards / risks associated with that particular work.

9.1.3 Based on the job risk analysis employees need to select the Personal Protective Equipments to avoid the occupational injury or illness.

9.1.4To promote and practice Environmental, Health and Safety principles it is the responsibility of each employee to ensure that no work having the potential hazard of accident/injury or illness should be carried out within the plant premises without personal protective Equipments. Conformance with this policy is the responsibility of every employee.

9.1.5It is the responsibility of the area or sectional incharge to ensure that proper and correct Personal Protective Equipments are provided to the employees attending the allotted job prior to its start and is used by them till the job is over.

9.1.6Refer Appendix I- Area / job type and their required Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs).

9.2 Issuing the Personal Protective Equipment:

9.2.1 All Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) will be issued only through the form- INM-03-028 Personal Protective Equipments issue requisition.

9.2.2 Some Personal Protective Equipments will be issued to the department while some will be issued to the employees on personal basis. Refer the Appendix II- List of kinds of Personal Protective Equipments issued to the department and on personal basis.

9.2.3 The numbers of Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) once issued to the department can be increased only on request of the particular department on requirement basis.

9.2.4 All Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) issued to the department or employee will be reissued at their scheduled period only and emergency conditions when the previously issued PPEs get destroyed.

9.2.5 .Refer Appendix III- List of PPEs and their respective issue schedule.

9.2.6 In any emergency requirement such as mentioned in 9.2.4 the previously issued PPE that got destroyed or damaged should be returned to the EHS Function, only then the new Personal Protective Equipment will be issued

9.2.7 Once the PPE is approved by the user and has been tried for its fit size, it will not be changed. EHS personnel is not responsible for the size / fitting afterwards.

9.2.8 The reissue after the damage of previously provided Personal Protective Equipment will be at the earliest after the return of the previous item ,except in case of scarcity / availability of that particular PPE in the stock(in any case the max. delay time will be 01 week).

9.2.9 Suppliers and Contractors will not be provided Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) from Xxx. Their supervisor/incharge has to provide the same

9.2.10 It should be ensured by the department engaging the services of the Supplier and Contractor that the Supplier and Contractor employee have the required PPE and use them while on job within Xxx Premises. Else they won’t be allowed to carry out any job within Xxx premises.
