1.0 PURPOSE :
To provide a procedure for calibration of thermometers with standard thermometer.
2.0 SCOPE :
This covers the procedure for calibrating of all thermometers.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY :
QC officer.
4.0 PROCEDURE :
4.1 FOR 0° TO 110°C THERMOMETER
4.1.1 Heat water in a clean beaker up to 100°C.
4.1.2 Place the thermometer in oil bath along with standard thermometer.
4.1.3 Allow the temperature to cool down.
Observe and record the temperature every 10°C interval i.e., from 100°C to 0°C.
Acceptance limit : ±1°C
4.2 FOR 0° TO 250°C THERMOMETER
4.2.1 Heat silicon oil in a clean beaker up to 250°C.
4.2.2 Place the thermometer in oil bath along with standard thermometer.
4.2.3 Allow the temperature to cool down.
4.2.4 Observe and record the temperature at every 50°C interval i.e., from 250°C to 0°C.
Acceptance limit : ±1°C
4.3 FOR 0° TO 360°C THERMOMETER
4.3.1 Heat silicon oil in a clean beaker up to 360°C.
4.3.2 Place the thermometer in oil bath along with the standard thermometer.
4.3.3 Allow the temperature to cool down.
4.3.4 Observe and record the temperature at every 50°C interval i.e., from 360°C to 0°C.
Acceptance limit : ±2°C
5.0 FREQUENCY OF CALIBRATION :
Once in six month.
