1.0 PURPOSE :
To provide a procedure for calibration of UV LIGHT VIEW CHAMBER
2.0 SCOPE :
Applicable to UV LIGHT VIEW CHAMBER ( QCI 05 ).
MAKE : Advance Research Instruments, SLW.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY :
QC officer.
4.0 PROCEDURE :
4.1 Ensure that the instrument is clean and free from dust.
4.2 Prepare the plate as follows
Coating Plate : Silica gel G
1. For short wave ( 254nm ) :
Apply 5µl of a 0.04% w/v solution of a Sodium salicylate in ethanol(95%).
2. For long wave ( 365nm ) :
Apply 5µl of 0.2% w/v solution of a Sodium salicylate in ethanol(95%).
4.3 Observation : The lamp should be capable of revealing without doubt a standard spot of Sodium salicylate with a diameter of about 5mm on a chromatographic plate.
5.0 FREQUENCY OF CALIBRATION :
Once in a month.
